Many of our patients will be aware of a long running aspiration for us, together with other local surgeries, to move into a new, purpose built medical centre. For many years, the focus was on a project to develop the Bellair site (currently home to various medical services including the District Nursing Team, and the former home of the ambulance station).
We have been working intensively over the last 2 years or so on a new iteration of this project, with a new focus. We are well into the development of a good plan, which has been approved by NHS England and is supported by NHS Kernow; working with the Alverton Practice and Sunnyside Surgery (both of whom are colleagues in the Mount’s Bay Surgery at Sainsbury’s) we have designed a new centre at St Clare on land currently owned by the Cornwall Council.
The project involves demolishing the old swimming pool (which lies derelict) and a substantial part of the redundant council One Stop Shop buildings, and building a medical centre with good access, good parking, a pharmacy and expansion potential for the future.
The attached pdf at the link below shows plans and schematics which will form the basis for the forthcoming formal planning process.
